Just so you know, the Clintons, especially Hillary decided that we were so far above third world countries like China, India, Africa, Russia, Latin and South American countries, and all Muslim counties that we could let them do the dirty work, eat the pollution for less while the Western Epstein Elite, especially the banking elite, could get rich through the imposition of our military and cash in on corporate and private profits after killing their competitors, just like the mob.
I worked in manufacturing management during the decline of manufacturing, and everyone just couldn't believe that the US could prosper without leadership in manufacturing. We were right.
We need to adopt a stronger will to work hard mentality in the US if we want to maintain our country’s infrastructures. We can’t keep taking the easy way out (out sourcing everything including work). I’m tired of people here being scared of hard work, this mentality obviously led to this supply chain screw up. Also capitalism is decent sometimes but we can’t keep putting profits over sense.
It's not that we mind hard work. Hard work don't pay squat. Until it's a matter of survival, we'll strive for the white collar jobs with white collar pay.
I see this sort of attitude all the time, unfortunately. The problem isn't the working class, it's a government and business community that has stopped investing in education and other policies that sustain the health and welfare of the working class. Much as everyone assumed rare earth minerals would always (and magically) be available, the people in charge have just assumed there would always be a pool of workers ready and able to be hired, without investing in them.
The US started to target specific Chinese companies that were potential competitors of incumbent US tech champions in 2020 (e.g. Huawei, ZTE). Export bans on advanced semiconductors and manufacturing equipment started in May 2020, and became generalised in October 2022. The aim was to cripple the Chinese tech industry in order to eliminate commercial competitors, as well as to maintain a technological edge. The Chinese export control for rare earths in August 2023 was a response to these bans, initially as leverage to safeguard Chinese industry. President Xi started to telegraph his willingness to use rare earth as a bargaining chip when the Trump, and then Biden administrations introduced the export controls. Many analysts at the time dismissed his threats, probably because they did not do their homework, and were also blinded by American exceptionalism. They did not believe that China, being a technology backwater, could produce something the US needs but could not produce itself. There was a famous Biden quip when he was told about the US supply chain vulnerabilities; "China is eating our lunch ? You've got to be kidding me.".
Normally, one would address one's own vulnerabilities before launching any kind of war, be it financial, economic, technological, cyber or kinetic. But the US elites still live in a bubble where everyone else is so much more inferior that only the most cursory (if any) effort is needed to study their adversaries before action. One phrase all Chinese schoolchildren learn from The Art of War is "知己知彼,百戰不殆“, translated as "Know yourself and know your opponent, and you will never lose in 100 battles". They might teach Sun Tsz in US military academies, but evidently none of the political leaders have ever read it.
The problem in this country is pure unadulterated greed and the MIC is the most in your face example. We have gotten fat, lazy and greedy.
It would take a complete turnaround for this country to change and there's no way that we will do it without the extreme hardships that are involved in another Great Depression. We are an economic disaster that is waiting to happen and it's coming.

Larry has given us a weekend reading treat — who’da thunk that the rock to rocket connection could have had such profound implications for the future of warfare.
I remember wanting to invest in rare earths 20 years ago. In the West, all the start ups were up in Canada with all the rest of the mineral mining. I haven't heard much about them even lately, but I don't think they are producing much yet. Can't mine here in the US cause it is really messy - lots of acid and all. How we getting along with China. Trump is hollowing us out.
You know, I live in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. In Leadville, CO they’re mining Molybdenum. I’m sure the other rare earth materials they need are also here in these mountains. Why aren’t they looking here for them??
One is reminded of the song, "It's The End of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)". So the MIC can't get the rare-earth minerals it needs to kill brown people overseas? Well, boo-fucking-hoo. Guess the USA is going to have to consider another line of work.
China has 56 Universities where you can major in rare earth refining. The US has zero.

Depends on what white collar. Electricians, plumbers, and contractors do pretty well nowadays I hear.

As Trump says that’s winning

😀Big Thanks😃

Our spurning of God has brought us to this point.
This situation is another example of how the US and Western countries are playing checkers as Russia and China are playing chess.

Ty, Larry! Your never-ending and tireless research is the best we citizens get!! So appreciative!
