The "Confabulator in Chief" caused me to think (again) that DJT is sliding into a different job description than what is laid out in the US Constitution.

I read the intro to a podcast today titled "Is Trump Making Himself a Dictator? Unchecked Power And A Looming War". Here is an excerpt from the intro: "...in the response to the ICE shooting in Minnesota, where dissent gets rebranded as disrespect and disrespect is treated like a crime. When loyalty becomes the yardstick for justice, constitutional limits become optional." Such a government is run by a dictator who demands absolute fealty from citizens--a dictator who lashes out in anger at a heckler, a dictator who punishes people and countries that don't agree with him.

A second excerpt is an apt phrase for DJT's intent to take Greenland: "... chasing cartographic glory." Some of the dictators in history sought to conquer and seize lands.

Indeed the zone is flooded to overflowing with, uh, stuff. Buried deep within it somewhere is Jeffrey Epstein (remember him?).

I was reminded of JE today while reading the Financial Times. Buried in the Companies and Markets section in an article discussing political risk insurance for companies investing in Venezuela (yes, let's not unduly concern ourselves with international law) was this:

<beginquote> “Venezuela as a country has been almost uninsurable” after insurers were “burned” by past expropriations in the oil sector, said Angela Duca, Marsh’s head of credit insurance.

But some brokers said US government guarantees could prompt insurers to resume offering political risk cover, especially if they got backing from institutions such as the US International Development Finance Corporation.

President Donald Trump last year chose Benjamin Black, son of billionaire Apollo co-founder Leon Black, to lead the DFC, which often invests alongside large private sector businesses. <endquote>

Among the names that have clung to Epstein tenaciously, Leon Black's is one of the top 5. He features quite heavily in the book reviewed here:

The outrage of the authors is barely controlled.
