While I agree with the sentiments regarding Pope Francis, I think focusing on the post-WWII ratlines run by a few rogue priests and bishops who helped a few thousand Nazis escape, while ignoring the half-million Jews Pope Pius XII helped to escape the death camps, shows a bit of a bias.

The Catholic Church has always viewed Marxism as a greater danger to religious freedom than fascism.

On the latest Groong podcast we talk about the Vatican.

With respect to my Catholic friends, but for many Armenians, it is impossible to conjure up any other image, when the name Pope Francis is mentioned, except the one with him and the Butcher of Baku (Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan) and his wife.

The Catholic Pope, giving legitimacy and support, in exchange to tons of caviar, for the Butcher of Baku, the one responsible for ethnic cleansing of Christian Armenians in Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh).

Strong cooperation between the Vatican and Baku has been happening for at least a decade.

Is this simply corruption or maybe a much more far-reaching policy by the Catholic Church?
