Uncle Sam has overdrawn its munitions account. The US continues to supply Ukraine in a battle against Russia that is 40 months old. The US has been supplying Israel for __ years. Uncle Sam did not plan well, because Ukraine is shriveling, and "the Iranian missile force is alive and well and bombing the shit out of Israel", as Larry aptly wrote.
How many turned upto the 250th birthday celebrations in DC? Almost nobody. Are the American people finally beginning to see Trump and his party as the charlatans they really are? One can only hope....

Get RID OF ADELSON AND HER MOSSAD CONTINGENT.
I've been trying to work out why Scott R was equal parts emphatic and wrong in his analysis of the Western attack. Now don't get it twisted. I respect the hell out of Scott's intelligence. As someone who has read Chomsky, Arundhati Roy, the Cockburns, Gore Vidal, Saul Bellow, Phillip Roth, Vonnegut, John Ralston Saul, Gwynne Dyer, Robertson Davies, et al, since the 1980's I recognize smart when I see it. No offense to the rest of you but I rate Scotts processing speed in real time above any of ya'll. Even Sachs. Still. Of all ya'll he is also by far the one to occasionally get things the furthest from my understanding. Aka. Wrong:-)
His latest take on the level of devastation by the West on Iran's air defense capabilities and missile ability to respond was so jarring that it forced me to puzzle out what the hell is going on and I think I've got it.
Pride. Flat out. As he is not loathe to tell us he is proud to have been a Marine. He has also said on more than one occasion that he believes the US fighting forces pound for pound to be the most lethal fighting forces in the world. He has also repeatedly said that Iran must take into account "No military on the face of the earth can project the level of force of the US Armed Forces." And it is that pride methinks that led him to believe that this first strike was far more effective than it was in fact. He has been going on at length over 'the nation killing package" that the US has mocked up for Iran. Repeated ad nauseum that "Iran has been its own worst enemy." Put near revelling in blaming the victim. Again. Why? Again. Pride.
To be perfectly frank. Scott's assertions about US capabilities have taken more than a bit of a beating over the last few decades. Again. Don't get it twisted. Scott also holds the opposite view and excoriates Kivoli (sp?), Petraeus et al when they denigrate the Russians for having achieved 'so little' over the last three years. Asking them pointedly: "How'd you do over 20 years in Afghanistan?" To which I would add: "Whose in power there now? The Taliban? Really? Isn't that the guys you went there to fight? Huh. And we won you say? Huh."
This is of course classic cognitive dissonance. I even detect a little of it with Colonel Macgregor. Who is as you know also very proud of his service and the services. I have a sneaking suspicion the guy in the background grinding their gears and getting their back up is Andrei Martyanov. I would pay good money for a debate between him and Doug. They intellectually accept that what Andrei is writing is at least mostly true. Hell Doug has been writing the same kinds of critiques for years. By the same token. They are prideful warriors and the idea that the US fighting force just ain't very good at war hits them in a blind spot that unbalances them. Doug much less than Scott.
Armchair quarterbacking aside Scott bit completely on the Western line that Iran had taken a crippling if not mortal blow. I listen to everyone, every single day. Honestly. I put in at least 50 hours a week on this shit. And Scott's analysis just didn't make any sense. "You can't make the Houthis stop, or the Afghanis stop, or the Vietnamese stop, but you've already crippled Iran? WTAF?" Professor M in his usual extremely calm and poised way gave a 180 degree pov. No Annalina math on this one:-)
I am, of course, at the mercy of tertiary analysis. I.e. People with direct knowledge, speaking on background to people with platforms, that I then interpret. In my defense as I started on this path with good ole Noam in 1980, I have gotten relatively decent at it. I.e. Knowing who I can believe, and when I can believe them, and who I can agree to disagree with.
Scott made the same kind of prideful error in judgement with you over Gonzalo. I wrote him at the time asking, "What about the fights that you can avoid? Have you fully considered that aspect of tactics?" As his attitude and comments to you made no earthly sense at all regardless of the 'truth' about Gonzalo's connections in Ukraine. No sense until you factor in a guy trained to be a warrior who is smart as a whip and has more than a little America #1 built in to his wiring.
Anyhoo. Just needed to think this one thru 'out loud' as it has been nagging at me ever since the Lira dispute blew up and reignited over his Iran analysis.
I think your onto something here. Makes sense to me. Remember when Syria fell and he was screaming at the top of his lungs "Thats end of Hezbollah, thats the end of Hamas, thats the end of Houthis" and he as Wrong! Now its "Iran should never have made themselves a Nuclear threshold state.." - what bloody choice did they have? Gadaffi tried not becoming a Nuclear Threshold state - and look how that worked out? Scott is very knowledgeable and a quick thinker - but he is clearly believing his own narrative about the US military. Houthis.. anyone.... .
DJT had better realize that his “Golden Dome” will be a worthless POS-just like Israel’s “Iron Dome”. They are J U N K!!! DJT you had better wake up and smell the coffee!! YOU’RE LOSING MAGA LEFT AND RIGHT!!! We DO NOT SUPPORT ISRAEL IN ANYTHING-ESPECIALLY GAZA AND THE MURDERS YOU ARE COMMITTING THERE IN OUR NAME!!! S T O P THE W A R NOW!!!
I don't blame DJT. He is trying to hold his coalition together. Unfortunately, he needs congress to pass the BBC and it is Israeli occupied territory. Also, the Christian Zionists are more numerous than the non-interventionist block. And then there is Jewish money...
