Before recommending versions of Qur'an, I recommend something else first. My first recommendation might seem funny. I would recommend that you FIRST get hold of the Encyclopedia Brittanica and read the section on Islam.
I accepted Islam in 1975, through a friend. But, after that, I was surprised to discover that there were many Americans who, after reading the section on Islam in Encylopedia Brittanica, accepted Islam. So, BEWARE!! 😊 I'm assuming that Brittanica still carries an objective approach to the study of Islam.
Seriously, check out Britannica. I don't really know about now, but when I read that section, back in the 1970s, it was really good.
Another suggestion--and maybe you might do this first--is that you read a book on the life of Muhammad. That's very important.
